$180 for an apartment is ridiculous. I just got mine yesterday and I was afraid to open it, but it was only $80 for my house. Do you leave your air conditioning on during the day? I turn mine off completely - it doesn't take that long to cool things down when I get home from work.

First "summer" electric bill of the year.... HOLY CRAP!!!

as an apartment dweller i'm used to an electric bill that is about $80 to $100 per month... but with the summer heat my bill just jumped to $180!

Might go visit the New York crew
by Elsewhere ini have a five day weekend coming up between june 30th and july 4th.. i'm thinking about heading up to see new york city, so would some of you new yorkers like to have a mini-fest and show me the sights?.
i'll need someone to refer me to a hotel that is in a good location for seeing the sights, but will not cost much more than about $100 a night.
either that or someone could put me up in a spare room.. let me know your thoughts!!

We like to stay at the Manhattan Inn on 8th Ave. and W. 30th - close to Penn Station. I think it's considered a hostel, so you might want to check hostels.com.
Rooms are tiny, but clean and you can meet people from all over the world on the rooftop patio at night. It's around $90 a night for a single with bathroom. -

I love the Cubs. I grew up not far from Chicago and Wrigley Field was my favorite summertime hangout. They broke my heart in 1984 though. I still hate that Mr. Clean capped teeth white bread mofo Steve Garvey. *sigh*

Can you tell us about it after the trial is finished? I got my first summons a few weeks ago. I go Tuesday and I'm also very excited. Everyone I tell just looks at me like I'm crazy, but I think it's cool. At the very least, I get a day off work (with pay and it doesn't count against my vacation days), I get to sit and read all day and if I get picked, well, that's even better.

Interesting thread...I'm a senior production artist for an advertising agency. I get paid to photoshop burgers and fries together in different combinations to create direct mail pieces that everyone can throw in the trash each day. I also work from home as a transcriptionist for a local college.
Use those pizza coupons, people! Keep me in a job.
